How the ShamFix Provider Rating Works
ShamFix uses an open and transparent rating system. Our goal is to show customers providers who actually work, inspire trust, and prove their experience through real results, not promises.
The rating directly affects:
- your position in the provider list
- the number of profile views
- the likelihood of receiving customer enquiries
What the provider rating is based on
Providers are sorted using several independent factors.
1) Profile completeness - up to 100 points
This is the basic level of trust. The more complete your profile is, the higher it appears in listings.
Required fields - 20 points
- first name
- last name
- phone number
- profile photo
Important fields - 30 points
- profile description (bio)
- background image
- business name
Categories and counties - 30 points
- selected service categories
- counties where you operate
Portfolio - 20 points
- uploaded examples of completed work
If you do not have a portfolio, you automatically lose up to 20 percent of potential visibility in the catalogue.
2) Average rating - average_rating
The average rating is calculated from customer reviews after jobs are completed.
It reflects:
- the quality of your work
- how well expectations were met
- the overall level of service and communication
A high rating increases trust and improves your chances of being chosen, even if you are not the cheapest option.
3) Number of reviews - customer_reviews_count
The number of reviews is taken into account separately from the average rating.
Example:
- 5.0 based on 2 reviews - a good start
- 4.8 based on 40 reviews - stable and proven trust
Consistency matters more than isolated ratings. That is why providers with a higher number of verified reviews receive additional visibility advantages.
How to improve your ranking on ShamFix
Step 1. Complete your profile
The ranking algorithm first checks basic trust signals. Empty or partially completed profiles almost always appear lower in search results.
Step 2. Add a portfolio
A portfolio is a direct signal of real experience. Even a few high quality examples increase:
- profile click through rate
- customer trust
- your position in listings
Step 3. Work in the counties you list
Only select counties where you are genuinely ready to take on work. The system uses location data to show you to customers you can realistically help.
Step 4. Ask customers to leave reviews
After completing a job:
- remind the customer to leave a review
- explain that it helps you receive more enquiries
- do not ask for a specific rating, only for honest feedback
The more reviews you have, the more stable your rating becomes.
Step 5. Maintain your rating through quality service
Ratings are influenced not only by the final result, but also by:
